One of the best parts about living and working in a creative industry is the beauty of being surrounded by other creatives. Balancing motherhood with owning and directing a creative business is not an easy feat, so I am constantly inspired by women around me who manage this well. My friends Tori Hendrix of Sitting in a Tree and Julia Wheeler of Gunn & Swain are two beautiful working mamas who exemplify the balance of love, creativity, work and family.
With a background in Interior Design and an innate passion for beauty, travel and celebration, Tori started Sitting in a Tree Events a few years ago. Since then, she has planned weddings and events all over the world with a growing team of like-minded creatives. Tori's eye for design and detail, love for positivity and sunshine, and crafty business mindset have taken her far. Not only that, but she is a wonderful mama to her daughter Lucca and is expecting a new bundle of joy, Golden, to arrive soon. She is a true inspiration.
Julia is a fellow wanderer and creative business owner. Her husband Dusty is equally creative and talented, doing custom woodwork for clients all over. Together, they have curated a lovely online shop with products from their world travels and things they have created. They are full of love--between each other, for their adorable son Gram, and for the people surrounding them. I feel so lucky to know people like these, and share a bit of life with them!
Since the launch of our Cleobella Home and Baby collections, I have received an amazing amount of support from these women. We got together last month to celebrate the fruit of our labor, in more ways than one. :) Our darling babes always enjoy being together and they were especially fun to watch in this magical picnic setting that Tori and Julia put together with our collection of pillows and blankets from Bali, complete with Balinese flowers by Siren Floral Co. and a giant wooden teepee made by Julia's husband. The little harems and ruffle bottoms have become a Cleobella favorite because they are just so irresistibly cute! The magnificence of it all was captured by our lovely photographer-friend Taryn Kent.
I believe everything in life should be an experience. You can teach your kids about other cultures and other parts of the world without necessarily booking a plane ticket. It's in moments like these, where our kids are free to play and explore in their own magical wonderland, that we are able to connect and bond with each other as parents and as friends, and find peace in our crazy lives.
