I met Melodi over a year ago when she modeled for one of our campaigns, photographed by her husband, Asher Moss. I had been following her work for quite a while, and as talented as she is, I wasn’t expecting to meet such a gentle, genuine, and inspiring woman. Maybe it’s her Texas roots, but Melodi and her husband Asher are incredibly kind, soulful, and genuine spirits, with a humble demeanor and passionate creativity. Melodi is an artist in many forms- a painter, stylist, visual director, photographer- art just pours out of her entire being.
We had the chance to work with Asher and Melodi again for our Fall ‘16 campaign, which we shot in Havana, Cuba. On this trip I got to know Melodi better, and I’m so in awe of her beauty, inside and out. She has raw talent that translates in every campaign she works on. A free spirited beauty with an innate eye for design in all its many forms, Melodi’s career is already on fire and I have no doubt in my mind that she is destined to be one of the great creators of her generation.
Tell us how you were introduced to Cleobella?
I was first introduced to Cleobella from a friend in Dallas, TX. I remember her wearing a white leather jacket with fringe and thinking how incredible of a piece it was that I had to know more and I’ve been hooked on yall’s work ever since.
What does the word "Bella" mean to you?
A woman that shows love.
Tell us about your background, where you are from, and how it’s shaped the work you to today?
I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I moved out of my parents home when I was fourteen and lived with my best friend and his dad until I started college at seventeen years old. I received my associates in Merchandise Marketing but soon realized that was not the path I wanted to go down. I went back to school for another 4 years to get my BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of North Texas. I worked in every media I could, taking up to 4 studio classes at a time. If I was working on my art then I felt like I wasn’t living, this was an extreme time for me and my art.
How would you describe your personal style? What or who inspires your style?
I don’t think I can narrow it down to a style, I am an emotional dresser and some days I just want to be some different character. I get to play the part my clothes project! My biggest influence has been musicians, Bob Dylan, The Stones, Allison Mosshart…. Also the 70’s time period in general always find its way into my wardrobe.
What or who inspires your artwork?
I have always felt so much for people and nature. Almost to a point where I can’t turn it off, so a lot of my work comes from the joys, trials, and sadness of those who I have crossed paths with.
How did you and Asher meet? How does he inspire you creatively and personally?
I met Asher on his book tour for Miss Lonely, It was the first time I had ever posed nude or really been in front of the camera. It was literally love at first conversation; I had never met anyone who connected with me in so many ways music, art, fashion, and travel. He was just as wild as I was and I chased him across the U.S. for 6 months until his book tour ended and he moved to Dallas to live with me. Who knew I would end up married to the guy a year later!
Asher and my whole existence together has been based off of us adventuring and creating together. He is my dreamer, that never sees a reason not to do something.

What is your creative process like?
Like a spiders web of ideas, when one bites hard enough I have to react.
How do you spend your free time?
Traveling, Writing, Listening to Vinyl, Taking Photos, Painting.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Adventuring in the wild with Asher.
What do you dream about for the future?
Moving to Cuba, making art that speaks to the trials of the time with Asher, teaching the world love and getting back to a society that loves people again.
