Alisha Gaddis

Meet Alisha Gaddis, an Emmy Award-winning actress, multi-Grammy Award-winning performer and producer, humorist, and writer.
She co-founded the acclaimed children's music group, Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band, with her husband.
In addition to her work in entertainment, Alisha is also a proud mother, balancing her creative career with raising two children.

How did your early experiences shape the diverse career you have today?
As a child, I moved a lot. Almost every year, I was in a new town, in a new school. This created a need to adapt and be able to quickly figure out my surroundings. I think rather than blending in, this gave me a unique ability to cultivate my sense of individuality. I started wearing what made me feel great at an early age. And letting my voice be heard. This led to having more confidence and excelling in the areas I hoped to. I like to move through spaces in the same way today, authentic boldness.

How does Cleobella as a brand align with your personal values and style?
Cleobella is exactly the type of brand I align myself with and for real reasons. Small, family-owned, sustainable and women forward - this is the blueprint of so many things I advocate for in my work and art. Each time I wear an article from Cleobella, I feel the care and love put in each piece. I think that radiates out. I cannot even tell you how many compliments I get!

How does your background in arts and storytelling influence your advocacy work?
Advocacy and social justice are incredibly important in what I do and who I am, but I often don’t lead with it. I had a genius acting coach tell me once that you must make people laugh, and then you pour the castor oil in - meaning, use laughter and story as a way to communicate hard to swallow messages. That has always stuck with me. Whatever art form I’m working on, writing a movie, acting in a television show, producing an album, publishing a book - the story is everything. I always check in with my ethos and make sure what I’m putting in the world is in alignment with my values. Also - I usually make it funny!

What do you do to balance being a mom, wife, and entrepreneur?
Day to day! Adulting is hard! I love all my hats! It takes firing on all cylinders but also self-care. The juxtaposition of those two things sometimes seems insane. But it’s true! I have to remember the ME in all my roles. Because then my true best self, in all the ways, can be present.

As someone who values creativity and impact, what role do you think fashion plays in self-expression and advocacy?
Fashion is a powerful delight! I tend to shirk fast fashion and always look towards sustainable clothes, second hand goods and creative styling. Whether I am walking a red carpet or the sidewalks of Los Angeles, I’m mindful of what I have on and who it represents. Uplifting a designer, movement or community while expressing oneself is an ultimate joy. And my goodness- I LOVE expressing myself with clothing.

What advice would you give to young creatives or women wanting to make an impact?
Get louder. Make your art. Let it fail. Make it again. Get involved. Find your community. Uplift and amplify voices that need you. Make small gestures. Make more small gestures. Lessen your waste. Collaborator with like-minded persons. Make big gestures. Make more art. Let it fail even bigger. Make it again. The world needs you.

What's your favorite item from the Spring 1 Collection?
The Naya dress - this looks like a wardrobe staple of my dreams. I’m already plotting all the ways I can style it. Did you see those adorable pockets?!?
