Odette Annable's Mother's Day Edit

Curated By: Odette Annable's Mother's Day Edit

Ahead of Mother's Day, we tapped friend, actress and writer Odette Annable to curate an edit of her favorite Mother's Day gifts and welcome us into her world for an afternoon with her daughters, donning Cleobella's newest matching set: the Miralani Midi Dress and Plumeria Littles Dress awash in our cheery Solara print.

Odette also took time to open up to us about motherhood, personal style, and the line of strong Cuban women who taught her to meet life with resilience and humor intact. What unfolds is less a portrait of having it all figured out, and more a meditation on dressing thoughtfully, living consciously, and protecting the small moments. Read on for the conversation.

Q: As Mother's Day approaches, what's been filling your cup lately — creatively, personally, spiritually?

A: Lately, it’s been less about big, sweeping things and more about small, intentional moments. Writing has been a huge one for me, just having a space to process my thoughts feels like exhaling. I started a Substack late last year and writing about all of my curiosities and learning from others has been SO fulfilling! Personally, it’s been slowing down enough to actually be present with my girls (even when everything in me wants to multitask). Spiritually, I’ve been leaning into the idea that I don’t have to have everything figured out to be doing it right. That alone has been really grounding.

Q: What first drew you to Cleobella, and what does the brand represent to you on a deeper level?

A: What drew me in was how intentional everything feels. There’s a real sense of care behind the brand, from the craftsmanship to the people who make the pieces. On a deeper level, it feels aligned with how I want to live right now: more thoughtful, more connected, less disposable. It’s not just about what you wear, it’s about what it represents and I love being part of something that feels conscious and considered.

Q: What's your girls' current obsession that you secretly love just as much?

A: Right now it’s a mix of imaginative play and full-on performances in the living room. There are costumes, songs, dramatic storylines, it’s a whole production. And honestly, I love it. It’s chaotic and loud which feels like the opposite of how structured life can get. It pulls me out of my head in the best way. We also love to go on golf cart rides at the end of the day since the weather is perfect in Austin currently. It’s such a nice way to break up the mundane witching hour and immerse ourselves in nature in our neighborhood.

Q: How has your personal style evolved since becoming a mother — and what's stayed the same?

A: It’s definitely become more practical, but I still want to feel like myself. I think now I’m more focused on pieces that are easy but still feel intentional; things I can move in, live in, but feel pulled together. What’s stayed the same is that I’ve always gravitated toward timeless pieces. I may have less time to think about getting dressed, but I still care about how it makes me feel.

Q: What's something your mother instilled in you that you're now intentionally passing down to your daughters?

A: Resilience, without making it heavy. I come from a line of strong Cuban women. My mom showed me how to keep going, how to adapt, how to find strength in hard moments, but also how to keep your sense of humor through it. That’s something I really want my girls to have. Life isn’t always going to be easy, but you can meet it with strength and still stay soft.

Q: What's a ritual you protect no matter how full life gets?

A: Time at the end of the day when everything slows down. Whether it’s sitting with Dave, checking in, or just having a quiet moment to myself, it’s something I really try to protect. It doesn’t have to be long, it just has to be intentional. It helps me reset and feel like I’m not just moving from one thing to the next. It can look like making dinner alone while Dave takes the kids out, or reading a great book at the end of the night instead of looking at a screen. I’m a Taurus, I need to reset without any social interactions sometimes.

Q: What does a perfect slow morning look like in your household?

A: No alarms. The girls wander in, there’s a little bit of chaos but no urgency. Coffee first, always. We stay in pajamas longer than we should, make breakfast together. It’s less about what we do and more about how it feels, un-rushed, connected, and a little bit messy in a way that feels good.
